Pochampally / Pochampalli  |  The land of handloom silks

Pochampally/Pochampalli hand-loom Silk !!!! Its nothing less than a beautiful art. The saris are produced in pochampally/pochampalli village in Nalgonda district. The sari's are dyed using a wrap dyeing technique called IKAT/IKKAT. I wanted to document the weaving process through photographs and i entirely fell in love with those gorgeous saris. The beautiful Saris are a result of many days of hard work from the weavers. It takes about 3-4 days for weaving one pochampalli sari. As the design gets more complicated, the time taken to weave it would increase. That's a lot of effort!! Next time you go shopping for a pochampally/pochampalli silk, take a moment to appreciate the time and effort that has gone into the weaving of the beautiful sari :)
